Reading: Children should read every night and an adult must sign their reading record in the box provided.
PE: PE is timetabled in for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. However, we suggest bringing PE kit in on a Monday and taking it home on a Friday to make sure it is always there when we need it!

Thank you all for attending our information evening in the Autumn Term and in turn purchasing the sets of revision guides to help your children practice at home to be the most prepared they can be for their upcoming exams.

Wow - what a month!
We began the term learning how to write a radio news report in English. We learnt all about the Space Race and Neil Armstrong's firs steps on the moon. After that, we researched Tim Peake's time on the International Space Station. Following this, we planned and wrote our own story titled 'The Mysterious Portal'. Have a look at a few brilliant examples in the photos section!
Maths lessons this term have seen us delve deeply into the world of decimals, percentages and fractions! We can now confidently convert between them - brilliant!
Our topic in Science this half term has been about classifying living organisms. We have looked primarily at animals and we have learnt about vertebrates and invertebrates. Did you know a spider is classified as an 'insect' because it has more than 6 legs. It is, in fact, an Arachnid! We have also learnt about micro-organisms (microbes) and were shocked to discover that they are living! We carried out a scientific investigation of the micro-organism yeast looking at what food it prefers 'eating': sugar, salt, coffee, rice or oil. Our results consisted of looking how much Carbon Dioxide was released.
In PE, we are currently exploring 'dance through the decades'. So far, we have looked at the 1950s Hand Jive and next week we will be having a go at 1960s style dance! Just ask to see our moves :)
Well done Hawthorn - keep it up!
