Spelling Progression
At Riverside, we follow the Spelling Shed Programme which is aligned fully to the National Curriculum. Children are explicitly taught the spelling rule for the week on a Monday and tested on the following Friday. Children are given a paper copy of the words and can also log in to Spelling Shed online to complete activities to reinforce the spellings.
As part of the scheme children will be taught the common exception words in Year 1 and 2 as well as the statutory word lists for Years 3/4 and Years 5/6 (see below).
