Well done Team Riverside, another exciting game and we were lucky to have this at home.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 2-2, second quarter was 3-3 and third quarter was 5-5 then in the last quarter we managed to win, it was a game that could have gone either way and due to their hard work and dedication the final score was 7-5, well done to Mehnaz who was named player of the match and well done to the rest of the team, Tasmiah, Charlotte, Ezzah, Fahtima,Lucie, Aisha and Souradrita.

We have another game next week as a friendly with All Saints so look out for the next result.

  • KS2 Invictus Games Festival at Altwood Secondary School

Tue 20 Nov 2018 Mrs Barnes

Well done to Sumayyah, Arfa, Cian, Hakima, Erin, Noah, Mohammed, Imran, Joshua and John on their participation in the KS2 Invictus festival that was held at Altwood School this afternoon!  Thank you to Mrs Dirkin for taking them to the festival where they were taught a bit about each game by the Young Leaders at Altwood Secondary School.  They experienced Dangerball, Goalball and New Age Curling and then played mini games against the other schools that were there too.  All children received knowledge of a new game and a certificate for attending and participating.  As ever, our chlidren were amazing and continue to make us proud in all that they do.

Maybe they might like to introduce some of these new games at Riverside!

Well done and thanks to Miss Porter, Mr Cranfield, Mrs Persen and Mrs Dirkin for all of their help in making this happen for our children.

  • Fifth Netball match against White Waltham Primary School

Thu 15 Nov 2018 Mrs Barnes

Wowwwww! What a thrilling game of Netball this afternoon from the lovely Netball team who played a very exciting and well matched game against White Waltham, it could have gone to either team and it was 4-1 in the first quarter to White Waltham against us but I am so proud to say that they all worked really well and competitively as a team and finally ended up losing in the last few seconds of the game when White Waltham scored !! The final result was 8-7, it is our first loss this season but I am extremely proud to say that they did not give up and even the Head from White Waltham came across and congratulated our girls!  We found out that they have not lost any of their games either  yet so they were very much a close opponent and I am pleased to say how proud these girls continue to make me feel.  Well done to Aisha for sharp shooting and being player of the match but well done to the rest of the team, Mehnaz, Tasmiah, Fahtima, Ezzah, Lucie, Souradrita and Charlotte.

I am sorry to say I was sooooo excited by the game that I forgot to take a photo of them in action so I will make sure I get some in next week when we play St Marys.

    Well done Team Riverside!

Well done to our victorious Netball team, their fourth game of the season against
Cookham Rise away and they came back with a huge smile and a win of 8-5, we were thrilled at this win as this team beat us last year !  So we really are making progress    and the girls continue to grow in confidence and ability! Tasmiah was voted Player of the Match and Aisha made a great Captain too, what a team!  Let us hope we keep  confident for our next game against White Waltham on Thursday.
Thank you to Mrs Persen for taking some of the team to Cookham Rise and to Mrs     Chesterman for taking Netball practice and for the support of our parents at theevents. I know the children love to show off their performances.
  • Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby Festival at Maidenhead Rugby Club

Mon 05 Nov 2018 Mrs Barnes

Wow what a fabulous afternoon spent with some Year 5 and Year 6's at our first Tag Rugby festival where the emphasis was on playing the game and enjoying the values of Tag Rugby  and not all about the winning.  All children were given a certificate and a big round of applause and believe me, there was a big range of abilities and experiences from the different schools. There were 12 teams there and we got to play 8 games during the afternoon and I have to say, our team had a big learning curve to endure  throughout the afternoon.

We made some mistakes but the children were very good at listening and put all their efforts in improving in the next game we had to play. I think by the time we reached our fourth game, we had warmed up and had a bit more time to flow as a team.

    The results were as follows

Riverside v Cookham Dean lost 0-4

Riverside v Furze Platt B lost 1-4 (Sufian scored the try)

    Riverside v Cookham Rise A lost 0-3

Riverside V Holyport A lost 3-4 (2 tries from Abdullah and one from Azaan)

    Riverside v Courthouse B lost 0-4

Riverside v Furze Platt A lost 1-4 ( Abdullah scored the try)

Riverside v Holyport B won 2-0 (Hashim and Abdullah scored a try)

Riverside v Cookham Rise B lost 2-5 (Hashim and Azaan scored a try)

Well done to the whole team who were fantastic from beginning to end in their enthusiasm and resilience and teamwork.  The team were Aleena, Sara, Ezzah, Sufian, Hashim, Abdullah, Azzan, Jayden and Sumaiya and the captain was Abdullah and he really did lead by example as he ran through and round the opposition.

Thank you to Miss Porter for helping with a lift to the event.
