^{At Riverside, we follow the 'Ready Steady Spell' Program which is aligned fully to the National Curriculum.}

^{Children in Year 2 will have a daily spelling lesson for 20 minutes and a 10 minute test every Friday.}

^{Children in Years 3-6 will have 3x spelling lessons a week for 20 minutes each and a 10 minute test every Friday.} 

^{The scheme teaches children a range of strategies to help them spell different words and these can be seen on the Strategy map shown below. The strategy taught that week will be shown on your child's home learning sheet. To further support your child with this at home please find below the home learning support booklet which further explains all the strategies. As part of the scheme children will be taught the common exception words in Year 1 and 2 as well as the statutory word lists for Years 3/4 and Years 5/6.}
