  • Ninth netball game against Holyport away

Thu 07 Mar 2019 Jacqui Barnes

Well another exciting game from our netball team and they worked really well and Mehnaz had a cracking game defending the ball  but sadly we did not manage to win this game as Holyport had some taller players and the game was very fast. The final score was Holyport 10 and Riverside 6.

Well done to the team again, a great show of resilience as we were leading and drawing in the first 3 quarters.

Mehnaz was player of the match, well done Mehnaz and also to the rest of the team Souradrita, Aisha, Tasmiah, Ezzah, Vaania, Lucie, Charlotte and Haleema!

I am sorry but I forgot to take a photo of this game!!

Our last game of the season is in a couple of weeks so please watch this space. We also have a High 5 competition coming up in 2 weeks so I will make sure we get plenty of photos at this event!!

Wow what an exciting start to the Boys football this term, this was their away game against White Waltham and what a game it was, the teams were pretty even and the ball was being passed well  amongst both sides, when I left at half time, it was 3-3  so I wasn't sure which way the result would go!!  Some super saves from Hamaad

The final score was 7-7 and the team had a great game, well done boys, Abdul-Sami, Salahuddin, Amaan Akhtar, Murtaza, Hamaad, Faleh and Ibrahim

  • The Maidenhead and Ascot School Sports Partnership Primary Dance Festival

Thu 14 Feb 2019 Jacqui Barnes

Well this is the fourth annual event that I have got our children ready for and I can say what an honor and privilege it has been to take Willow to the event this year.

I feel that this class's performance has continued to improve and they certainly were independent and motivated to do the best they possibly could.

The theme of the Dance Festival this year was Fairy Tales over time and as all the children cover this in  the English Curriculum, I wasn't sure what we were going to end up with... This is all down to Mrs Douglas who coordinates the whole event, we were given Egyptian Cinderella to do as our performance so Mrs Douglas came into Willow's dance lessons for a few weeks to give some direction  and ideas for our dance.

We had a fair few talented dancers in this class and it was an absolute to watch them performing 100% and showing their Swagger !!

Thank you Mrs Palfrey for helping with the costumes, Mrs Dirkin and Mr Bennett for help with practicing  and support throughout the event.  What a great team effort!!

Well done Willow an amazing achievement!

  • Sports For School Invictus Games Sponsorship event and assembly hits Riverside by storm!

Tue 12 Feb 2019 Jacqui Barnes

We are thrilled to say that  we had a morning of Circuits given to the whole school  as part of their Sponsorship event and it was followed by a Whole school assembly presented to us by Luke Delahunty and I have to say it was a truly inspirational talk about how his journey has turned out so far.  Luke is in the middle of training for the London Marathon so we at Riverside wish him well and were very thankful for his question and answer session at the end of the assembly too.

The counting and calculations have all been done now and we are pleased to say that we have managed to raise £715.60p for the outdoor equipment  that will go back to the children at Riverside.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and families that raised money for this first special event, There was a mini prize donated to a child from each class who managed to raise the most for their class and I can't thank you enough for all of you that got involved.......

Here are some snippets  of what the children got involved in on the day and I am sure you will agree, it will be a venture that we can build on for next year!!

  • Timestable Rockstars Launch!

    Thu 24 Jan 2019

    TIMESTABLE ROCKSTARS!

The Times table Rockstars have arrived at Riverside!

The children of Riverside were treated to a fabulous rock concert in assembly on Monday to launch our new timetable scheme!

    Each child has been given:

    1. A letter with their personalised login details

    2. A booklet in class in which they will be completing challenges in 3 times per week.

All children are aiming to learn their timetable and to answer them within 3 second to become a timetable rockstar!

Support your child to achieve this fabulous achievement by:

    1. Downloading the app on your phone and tablet and logging in.

    2. Helping them to log in at home on a computer.

Regular practice of the timetable is they key to many other areas of maths such as fractions, decimals, percentages and solving multi step problems. To become fluent is the key to success.

By encouraging your child to practice online via the app or website will allow them to become successful, confident and fabulous mathematicians for life!

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask your class teacher to help get your child up and running online at home.

Well done another amazing performance from the School Netball team today, we had a friendly against All Saints at home and it was a really competitive game and it was our last game for this year but do not worry we have plenty of games lined up for 2018.
